Equal Employment Opportunity

NREL is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for a job interview and employment without regard to the protected characteristics and other applicable statuses protected by federal, state, or local laws.

Drug-Free Workplace

In accordance with the federal Drug-Free Workplace Act, NREL prohibits the illegal use, possession, sale, distribution, or manufacture of controlled substances while working on NREL sites, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) property, while on NREL business, or while performing NREL work. This includes substances that may be permitted under certain state laws. Under federal law, marijuana remains an illegal drug.

All employment offers are contingent upon passing a drug screening. Unless prohibited by state or local law, the drug test will include marijuana. In certain circumstances, a positive test may result in the withdrawal of the job offer and a temporary period of ineligibility for future positions at NREL.

Reasonable Accommodations

In alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the associated Amendments Act of 2008, NREL provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities during the job application and interview process, unless doing so would pose a direct safety risk or create an undue hardship.

If you require assistance due to a disability while using our online application system or during interviews email NREL's Human Resources Compliance team. All requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Site Access

NREL is subject to DOE access restrictions. All candidates must be approved for access within a reasonable time frame for the specified position, to be considered for an on-site interview.

Foreign Government Talent Recruitment Programs

DOE contractor employees are prohibited from participating in certain foreign government talent recruitment programs. Candidates who have receivied an offer of employment and are currently involved in such programs must disclose this information and may need to withdraw from program participation before starting employment.

Employment Eligibility in the United States

All offers of employment are contingent upon verification of eligibility to work in the United States. While NREL may sponsor U.S. work authorization for select positions, sponsorship is not guaranteed. For questions related to visas or immigration, email NREL's People Mobility team.
