ExaWind Software Suite

ExaWind software is an open-source suite of codes that runs on exascale-class computers and simulates wind turbines and wind farms, helping researchers and engineers test ideas prior to development.

NLR developed the Exawind software to:

  • Demonstrate ways of understanding wind plant physics and reducing wind plant inefficiencies
  • Generate simulation data to empower next-generation design tools
  • Provide software tools to drive disruptive wind energy generation technology innovations.

The ExaWind blade-resolved model shows progress toward exascale capabilities.
