Brent Olson — Chief Assurance Officer

Brent Olson serves as chief assurance officer for NLR's Office of Enterprise Assurance, providing independent and objective oversight to promote safe, secure, effective, and compliant laboratory operations.

Under his leadership, the Office of Enterprise Assurance delivers integrated assurance services and maintains a robust ecosystem of accessible, reliable data, metrics, and insights. This capability enables NLR leadership to make risk-informed decisions, strengthen risk-mitigation strategies, and provides NLR and the U.S. Department of Energy Golden Field Office with transparent, direct visibility into how the laboratory is being managed.

Before joining NLR, Olson gained extensive experience in assurance roles with organizations including global public accounting firms and a large publicly traded automotive manufacturer. Throughout his career, he has successfully led numerous strategic assurance engagements that have contributed to enhanced governance, risk management, and control processes that have established forward-looking assurance functions.

Olson holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Northern Michigan University and is a certified as a public accountant, internal auditor, and fraud examiner.
